Job purpose: 

The Farm Business Manager is responsible for managing the business functions of Hoaloha Farms.  By creating, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive working business plan by managing all financial records and transactions.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess these skills: 

  • Excellent business skills, including knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping, in order to manage financial records and client transactions
  • Knowledge of marketing, sales, economics, farm operations, and agricultural processes
  • Have the necessary planning and organizational skills to achieve targets for working business plan
  • Maintain contracts with other farmers including water payments, crop payments etc
  • Analyzes market conditions to determine acreage allocations
  • Records information, such as production, crop inventories, farm management practices, and operational reports
  • Evaluates financial supplements and makes the proper adjustments with the Farm Manager to establish and maintain comprehensive Operational Plan
  • Must possess a safe work ethic
  • Possess a positive attitude and drive
  • Enjoys and provides superior customer service
  • Provides flexibility, where needed, in all aspects within the operations
  • Treats customers and co-workers with courtesy and respect
  • Possess strong and genuine negotiating skills
  • Requires good communication skills
  • Excellent working knowledge and practice of lateral service
  • Takes initiative to assist in all areas
  • Is self-motivated, especially under pressure
  • Is willing and able to attend classes and certifications required for the position

  • Works with purchasers and arranges sale of crops and added value products
  • Works with chefs on added value products
  • Works on getting and maintaining grants
